These are some preliminary sketches for my “Winter’s Icy Breath” painting. What is it like to be touched by winter? What creatures thrive in it?

I’m not a fan of it, myself. But I have known a person or two who loved the cold. And after all, it sets a nice rhythm to our lives, cycling through the excited bustle of spring, the long warm days of summer, the cooling anticipation of autumn, and the smooth stillness of winter.

Or maybe, you’re ready to see the finished painting here. And there are prints available here.

What do you feel about winter?
