“Afternoon, Revisited” Giclee Print

Wouldn’t this be the ultimate instant getaway? If you think you recognize this, it’s because it is an update of the classic Impressionist painting, “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”. The Seurat painting that inspired this one is so charming and whimsical and a big favorite of art lovers like me, so I couldn’t resist creating my own take on it. I kept the original’s period scene, but created new perspectives on the personalities, and interjected the hues and light from my psyche. I can’t help but relax in the filtered light of this park setting.

See the evolution of this piece from sneak peek to color study to initial idea to character studies to characters inhabiting the painting to the completed painting.

From the “Masters, Revisited” series, where I re-interpret paintings from famous artists. See more from this series here
