I am so excited to tell you about the Journey of Hope Show 2019.

The most important thing about it is it’s cause: to stop the stigma surrounding mental health issues. The Journey of Hope Show is about real life stories of living with mental health challenges portrayed through art. I know that I am personally moved by this project, as I know so many people struggling with mental health issues and I have faced them myself.

You yourself might know friends and family dealing with this issue.

The beauty of this project is that it benefits us on so many levels.

It gives the writers with mental health challenges an opportunity to examine their journey and express themselves through their written piece. You can read about their journey in the show program as you view the art.

It brings the story of each journey into a new realm, portrayed through art, in an intuitive and visual format, offering you exploration and new ideas about mental health.

It gives all of us the opportunity to understand and compare with our previous knowledge of our well-being, whether personal or observed.

It brings to light the diversity of the stories and the prevalence of its occurrence among us.

It starts the conversation that we need to have.

You can see the show at three venues this year:

October 5-23, 2019: Elk Grove Fine Arts Center

October 29-November 17, 2019: Sacramento Fine Arts Center

November 28-January 5, 2019: Crocker Art Museum

The reception at the Crocker Art Museum will be

Sunday, December 15th

1 pm to 2:30 pm

I hope you can make it.
