San Francisco, Here We Come!

The muse Gaia leans over with her golden hair floating around her as she picks up a golden spark of light in a luminous wood scene with birds, butterflies and flowers abundant.

I’m thrilled to announce that my painting, “Gaia, Upon Finding the Light” will be in the online portion of the Sanctuary Show at the ARC Gallery in San Francisco.

The opening reception is Saturday, May 18th, 2019, 7 to 9 pm.

The show runs May 18th to June 22nd.

The juror is Bryan Yedinak who chose pieces based on the theme of “Sanctuary” as he describes in this statement:

“Sanctuary can be defined in many different ways, depending on the circumstance, in which the context is used. Upon jurying this exhibition, I chose to align my consciousness with the idea of peacefulness and tranquility, a safe and magical  place of being and feeling.

“I was inspired to select pieces that are zen-like, dreamy, and often times playful.  Overall, I feel the theme of, ‘Sanctuary’, is a place to reflect and contemplate quietness and beauty. To me, this temporal escape was an enjoyable journey and exploration into so many wonderful works of art that were not limited to one artistic medium.

“My hope is that ‘Sanctuary’ will bring the viewer a sense of calm reflection and possible escape, from our fast paced Silicon Valley world, and maybe bring a smile to your face.”

Mr. Yedinak’s description of the show’s vision are inspiring and promise a centered and grounded place in this busy and sometimes disconnected world.

My painting, “Gaia, Upon Finding the Light” shows the moment that the Goddess Gaia finds the “light of life” and all nature is released around her. A rush of energy surrounds her in the filtered sunlight of a wooded glen. Her power is magnified and all beings, plant and animal, are empowered and protected in this sacred sanctuary.

I can’t wait to check out the rest of the show and I hope you can make it, too!
