It’s time for a sneak peek just for you of my newest painting. You can watch the progress of this piece from random paint spatter through the appearance of the images and on through to the finished painting, in the coming posts on this blog.

This subject matter, a herd of wild horses running, has been on my mind for a couple years, ever since I painted “Wild Donkeys” for the Carnival of the Animals series. I loved discovering those wild creatures in the paint spatter. And since I grew up with horses, it seemed like a no-brainer to create a painting around horses. They’re in my blood.

So, when I saw the Art of the Horse exhibit call-for-artists, I knew it was time.

I can’t wait to share the process with you.

You can see some very calm, wild horses grazing their way through the backyard of my childhood home, here.

See the evolution of this piece from this sneak peek to idea exploration to paint spatter to preliminary sketches to inked images to completed painting.

The original painting of  “Wild Horses” is available for purchase here.
