This painting is unique in that instead of being framed, it is mounted permanently on a custom painted wood block. The surface surrounding the image is a coordinating tone of light violet, with the sides of the wood block finished in a deep blue. The wood block has a mounting hanger on the back for display on the wall and because of its dimensions, the finished piece can also rest upright independently on a flat surface, such as a shelf, table or display stand, as shown in the accompanying photo.
Mounted on a painted wood block, this is the original painting of the “Nutcracker Overture” from the Nutcracker ballet, in which the Nutcracker is introduced with Clara, a mouse, snowflakes, and flowers in the background.
This piece is from the Nutcracker Ballet series.
It was exhibited along with the other four pieces from this series in the Small Treasures Show at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center, November and December 2017.
