Art vs. Artist
Have you seen the “Art vs. Artist” posts on Instagram? The post is a grid of 9 images, with a picture of the artist in the center surrounded by images of her artwork. I thought they look so great and give such a nice snapshot of the artist’s style and direction. So, here’s mine. (If you’re on Instagram, you can follow me here.)
It’s also fun to learn some tidbits about the artist. Here are my five bits:
1. Country Mouse or City Mouse? Both! I was born in L.A., but grew up in the country outside Reno.
2. Cat or dog person? Both, again! I had both pets at different times during my childhood. As an adult, I had dogs, until 4 years ago when we got two black cats.
3. Strangest pet incident (yeah, I just made up that category): I was all alone late one night. I kept hearing click, click, click. Then, the piano next to me started making noise, its strings vibrating. Finally, out from under the piano crawled my son’s pet crayfish. It had figured out how to crawl out of its tank, across the room, across the hall, and into the room I was in.
4. I love music, both to play and to listen to. (I talk a little about how it comes up for me in art here.)
5. I love Hello Kitty. I recently acquired a Hello Kitty radio/alarm clock. It only plays the Hello Kitty channel… no, not really. It plays the usual radio stations. You can’t have it all.
What odd thing do you own? C’mon now, I wanna know.
You can find the complete paintings of the details featured in my Art vs. Artist graphic in my store, as originals and prints.
