I couldn’t resist this passionate scene. This couple was inspired by Gustav Klimt’s painting, “The Kiss”. I shied away from attempting a re-make of such a famous and beloved image, but after browsing through all of Klimt’s other paintings, this clearly was my favorite and the one for me. The image I found varies greatly from the original, yet clearly references it, don’t you think?
The feeling I kept coming back to as I worked was, “the mystery of love”. This couple’s moment re-creates the world around them.

About this painting:
There is something extra special about an original piece of art. This special phenomena is due to a number of factors, such as the long period of labor and touch by the artist, the special materials used, the energy of the artist’s concentration focused upon the work.
This original painting was rendered using the finest acrylic pigment paints, pen and ink, and carbon crystal pastels. The paints have a clarity and robustness that offers a rainbow variety of color to bring light into your room. The carbon crystal pastels reflect light due to their crystalline nature, unlike chalk pastels, which results in a dimensional quality in the image. The crystalline effect cannot be reproduced, it can only be viewed in the original piece.
Fully framed and matted. The paper substrate is floated on the matting, highlighting the tactile qualities of this piece.
